Karyn Carlson earned a Bachelor of the Arts in Elementary Education from West Chester University, Pennsylvania, and a Master of the Arts as a Reading Specialist from Jersey City State College, New Jersey. She taught fourth and fifth grades for eleven years and during summer school sessions she served as a remedial reading teacher for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Aside from being a classroom teacher, Mrs. Carlson has privately tutored students in kindergarten through eleventh grade in reading, writing and math for twelve years. She is an Educational Consultant, training teachers on best practices for literacy instruction through her consulting company ‘Create, Connect, Comprehend, Inc. In order to keep current with research, Karyn also attends summer literacy institutes at Teachers College – Columbia University in New York City. Since 2005, Karyn has owned and operated a successful SES business in 6 states.
